School architects and change agents for education, Fielding International’s chairman Randall Fielding stressed the necessity for schools to have sustainable design. “Daylight, natural ventilation, and indoor-outdoor connections should be the key elements,” he explained while observing that most of the new higher education buildings “are built on the wrong idea. These structures end up as spectacular buildings by star architects, from the public relations point of view.” CEO professor Stephen Heppell said that if the 20th century saw building big things for people, the 21st century helps people to help themselves through communication technology.
“The 20th century was an era of global conflict, whereas the 21st century is the age of learning,” he added.”
